BHP SHUT OUT OF COTACACHI COUNTY *INTAG*

You can expect the same for Cornerstone and Codelco…
The week of June 4 saw BHP lose a court case in which the company tried to force the Municipal government of Cotacachi to give the company a permit to open an office within the Cuellaje area (concessions Santa Teresa 1 and 2; plus 3 more affecting the Bosque Protector Cebu in Carcia Moreno Parish) all located in Cotacachi county. The company actually sued a single functionary for not emitting said permit, which the company was willing to pay all of $10,, the minimum required. Anyway, commecial activities of any sort, including any change of land use,  has to comply with the Municipal’s Development Plans, and mining does not.  The two particular areas, where all of BHP’s concessions are located, has been slated for conservation by a legal, binding government ordinance.
